The Department of Scientific Research at the British Museum is seeking to appoint a Research Assistant: Microscopy. The postholder will lead on the investigation, by microscopy, of plant and animal tissues embedded in organic/food crusts associated with pottery vessels investigated in an ongoing ERC project (The Innovation, Dispersal and Spread of Ceramics by Hunter-Gatherers in NE Europe). These data will be evaluated alongside other datasets, including molecular and isotope data from lipid residues, archaeological contextual information, technological/typological data obtained on the pottery vessels and radiocarbon dates. You will join an experienced project team drawn from The British Museum, the University of York and the Centre for Baltic and Scandinavian Archaeology, Schleswig, Germany.
