We are seeking a specialist in the identification and analysis of vertebrate faunal skeletal (non-human mammalian) remains to join our new (AHRC) RICHeS-funded laboratory here in Aberdeen as a Research Technician. The role will be based in the new laboratories in the Zoology building and managed through the School of Geosciences. The post is based in a leading archaeology department, with regional strengths spanning Northern Europe, Scandinavia, the North Atlantic, and other high-latitude regions, and a strong methodological focus on the study of human and faunal remains, including via biomolecular approaches. The department draws on the University’s rich museum collections and strong cross-departmental interest in the study of the past. The main role for this job is to provide support as the Technician for the Ark of the North facility, providing support for all laboratory-based research and teaching, including supporting staff, students, visiting researchers and other users. The post-holder will routinely undertake faunal identifications and analysis, along with specimen acquisition, preparation and (basic) conservation.
