We are now looking for heritage scientists for the continued development of the Swedish National Heritage Board's Cultural Heritage Laboratory. The Cultural Heritage Laboratory is part of the Unit for Cultural Heritage and Science. The unit is responsible for supporting research and knowledge building in the field of cultural heritage and for coordinating and driving issues within the interdisciplinary research area of heritage science. About 10 employees work in the unit, and the activities include the cultural heritage laboratory, a research environment for runes and rune inscriptions, as well as work with international and national standardization in cultural preservation. The Cultural Heritage Laboratory is a research infrastructure and resource for scientific analyses within heritage science. Our mission is interdisciplinary and often requires collaborations both nationally and internationally. In order to generate knowledge that leads to an advanced practice for sustainable use and preservation of cultural heritage, we drive and participate in various R&D collaborations. Our infrastructure is also open for collaborations aimed at extracting new cultural historical knowledge with cultural heritage as a source of knowledge. Our partners come from universities, museums, other cultural heritage actors, and laboratories. The instrument park includes, among other things, SEM-EDS, XRF, X-ray, technical photography, FTIR, and Raman. The Cultural Heritage Laboratory is equipped with portable equipment, and analyses are also conducted in the field.
