You will be the geomatics expert within the project team of the ERC AdG Transpacific project. The goal of this project is to provide a radically new history of early modern Pacific trade by critically re-evaluating conventionally used sources, examining hitherto neglected historical archives and records in a range of Asian and European languages, and analysing recent archaeological evidence using new methodologies and perspectives. The project is led by Prof. Dr. Angela Schottenhammer (PI) (Department of History, KU Leuven). You will be part of an international interdisciplinary team with experts in history, archaeology, and historical geography, which includes a strong collaboration between Ghent University (Department of Geography; Cartography & GIS research group, Prof. Van de Weghe, responsible for the geomatics component of the project) and KU Leuven.
