The Conservation Science Division works with heritage professionals across Canada to answer a wide range of scientific questions relating to heritage objects and collections. Through applied research and scientific services, our activities include: Understanding, evaluating and improving new conservation treatments and materials; Scientific photo-documentation; Analysis of heritage objects; Aging and deterioration studies; Development of new analytical methodologies. Through the Emerging Professionals Program and with guidance from senior staff, the Assistant Conservation Scientist will: Undertake scientific analysis of works of art and heritage objects to determine their chemical composition and identify possible degradation issues; Participate in research projects on topics related to heritage conservation and conservation science; Provide technical advice and scientific analysis reports to heritage clients on behalf of the Canadian Conservation Institute.
