The education program at the Institute for Conservation-Restoration combines theory and practice in the conservation-restoration of a broad range of cultural assets. The institute closely cooperates with the Academy's artistic as well as cultural studies and natural science institutes while maintaining the Academy's strategic focus in the areas of sustainability and decolonization. The education includes five fields of study: conservation-restoration of paintings / sculptures, paper / books, mural paintings / architectural surfaces, wood / objects, and modern and contemporary art. Areas of responsibility: subject-related, scientific and practice-oriented research in the focus of study conservation-restoration of mural paintings / architectural surfaces ; forward-looking development of the focus of study mural paintings / architectural surfaces in research and teaching ; independent teaching of courses ; supervision of students and academic theses ; development, participation and implementation of (third-party funded) research projects.
