Analysis of DNA from environmental samples has enormous potential for studies in paleo-ecology, climate change, conservation biology etc. However, although metagenomic analyses of eDNA samples is extremely powerful, analysis of rare ancient species (ancient DNA fragments) is technically and computationally challenging. The position is opened to explore various wet lab methods that can alleviate these technical challenges generating meta genomic data for selected species or taxa.
