We are seeking a laboratory assistant to support the research groups at the Centre of Palaeogenetics (CPG). The work will support a broad variety of research projects, including palaeogenetic analyses of how arriving humans interacted with local faunas, pathogens in ancient humans, and analyses of extremely old DNA from both sediments and animal remains The Department of Archaeology and Classical Studies will be the employing department. The laboratory assistant will extract DNA from ancient bones, teeth, and sediments and prepare libraries that can be sequenced using Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) technology. There may also be some administrative tasks, as well as basic management of the resulting sequence data. It is also expected that the successful applicant will participate in the daily activities at the Centre of Palaeogenetics and interact with other projects.
