Logo University of CopenhagenThe Globe Institute at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen seeks to appoint a tenure track assistant professor of sedimentary ancient genomics, metagenomic bioinformatics and ancient DNA. We invite applications from candidates with research interests in sedimentary ancient genomics, metagenomic bioinformatic analysis and ancient DNA. We are looking for a skilled experimental and informatic scientist with an exciting and ambitious research programme focused on pushing the boundaries within sedimentary ancient genomics and metagenomic bioinformatics to advance the molecular paleoecology science. Emphasis on human-environment interaction is desirable but not essential. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated/track-record of excellence in research and developing novel methods for the retrieval of DNA from geological and archaeological sediments, ice-cores (and other geological deposits etc.). The ideal candidate will also have experience in international fieldwork and a developing ancient DNA wet lab techniques and bioinformatic analysis, as well as thorough experiences with public outreach and communication. Finally it is important that the candidate can demonstrate experience in university education and teaching.
