We are seeking to appoint a Chemistry Laboratory Technician to work as part of a team who has had chemistry or biochemistry training. The primary duties will be the extraction of organic components from archaeological and geological samples for radiocarbon dating. This requires the ability to work methodically and accurately, and to possess good communication skills and the ability to work co-operatively with others.
Experience with chemical or biochemical methods is essential, as well as basic computer skills and a relevant secondary education and technical qualification. Familiarity with mass spectrometry and chromatography would be an asset. An interest in archaeology or environmental science would also be welcomed.
