The McDonald Institute invites applications for two 6-month, full-time, Research Associates to work on the project "After the Plague: Health and History in Medieval Cambridge". Applicants must have a PhD and experience in the relevant research areas; applicants will be considered who have submitted their doctoral thesis and are awaiting viva. Relevant research areas and skills include:
- Detailed familiarity with the later medieval period in East Anglia
- Advanced specialist familiarity with one or more of the following scientific methods, including geometric morphometrics, CT scanning of archaeological bone specimens, aDNA analysis, isotopic analysis, and/or palaeopathology
- Methods and tools of statistical analysis, including R
- Experience working with databases of osteoarchaeological/ biological anthropological data
- Experience with working with archaeological collections and liaising with archaeological units and collections managers
