The Department of Anthropology at the Natural History Museum Vienna (NHMW) is offering a Post-Doc position in the ERC Synergy Project HistoGenes.
Main tasks:
• Participation in the Viennese project group to anthropologically research upon, and prepare the sampling of early medieval skeletons.
• Conception and creation of the work files/methods and workflow on general anthropological data and specific characteristics of the human skeletons to be studied.
• Anthropological in-depth analysis on living conditions and health status of selected skeletons, mostly from the Avar core area. This includes the systematic assessment of signs of heavy/recurrent physical stress and joint changes, fractures and signs of violence, stress markers and traces of deficiencies, the estimation of fertility and mortality rates in cemeteries, and statistical calculations and evaluations of the recorded data.
