This Postdoctoral Research Associate position in microplastics and geochemistry at the University of Lincoln seeks to understand the presence of microplastic contamination in archaeological sediments from sites around the U.K. as well as their impacts on selected artefacts. The successful candidate will lead a blended field- and laboratory-based research project quantifying the levels and types of plastic polymers in selected archaeological samples. The laboratory aspects involve analytical geochemistry and chemistry approaches including a long term mesocosm investigation of the potential impacts of microplastics on artefacts of differing compositions.
