The ISLANDLAB project is conducting research investigating the Quaternary fauna and environments of the Maltese Islands. The candidate’s job will focus on supporting the scientific research being carried out by the projects: Conduct systematic assessment and analyses of early Neolithic pottery from Latnija Cave; Oversee and manage thin section production, pottery residue analyses and OSL dating conducted at partner laboratories; Analyse thin sections for petrographic study to conduct full pottery characterisation encompassing form, fabric, and manufacturing methods; Integrate results from pottery analysis with ongoing zooarchaeological, archaeobotanical, paleogenetic, and palaeoecological studies from Latnija Cave; Compare early Neolithic Latnija Cave assemblages with those from the early Neolithic levels at the site of Skorba, curated by Heritage Malta.
