The Division of Science at New York University Abu Dhabi is inviting applicants for a research assistant hire in the area of physics applied to cultural heritage. The applicant will work in the domain of particle and radiation detectors (organic and inorganic scintillators, photomultipliers and silicon photomultipliers, silicon drift detectors etc.) applied primarily to cultural heritage analysis. The incumbent will develop expertise in non-destructive analytical techniques (XRF, PIXE, PIGE) essential for compositional analysis of historical artifacts, with particular focus on Islamic ceramics and archaeological materials. The applicant may be involved in several cultural heritage research projects, in the framework of an extremely dynamic and stimulating research group. It is expected that the applicant will also help in the general management of the laboratory and its equipment.
