Radiocarbon Ireland aims to safeguard the value of radiocarbon dates for future research by ensuring that radiocarbon (14C) data from this island are Findable, openly Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable. The project objectives are to: 1) resurrect 15,000 radiocarbon dates by repopulating/checking their associated data (on the dated material and its archaeological context) and archive these within a new open-access digital repository for transnational radiocarbon data from Ireland and Britain; 2) provide training and resources on scientific dating and data archiving, maximise uptake of the repository, and facilitate the ongoing collective entry of data into the repository; 3) work with our partners to ensure the longer term sustainability of the repository; and 4) examine patterning across the dataset to reveal changes in practices and research traditions across Ireland.
