We seek a trained archaeobotanist with experience in the Americas to contribute to an interdisciplinary project funded by NSF DISES to track the movement of maize and people through time across Mesoamerica using a coevolutionary perspective. The postdoctoral scholar will collate existing archaeological data regarding the appearance and intensification of maize across Mesoamerica, including archaeobotanical, isotopic, and ground stone evidence from 10 broad regions. Fluency in Spanish is required in order to access Spanish-language reports/publications and to communicate with colleagues in relevant countries. Interrelational database design and maintenance is desired but not required.
