The Department of Archaeology and Classical Studies is seeking a postdoctoral researcher in Osteoarchaeology, based at the Osteoarchaeological Research Laboratory. The researcher will join the project Pioneers of northern Scandinavia, financed by the Swedish Research Council. The purpose of the project is to shed light on the chronology and origin of the first humans in northern Scandinavia, to recreate the prehistoric environments that the first humans experienced, to reconstruct colonization processes for various animals, mostly mammals and primarily those associated with human activity. Through new knowledge of reconstructed coastal environments and environmental changes, the pioneer settlements and their adaptive strategies can be identified.
