The Institute of Geological Sciences at Freie Universität Berlin invites applications for a Research Assistant position in Paleontology. This is a full-time, four-year position offering an exciting opportunity to join the Paleoclimate Research Group led by Prof. Stefanie Kaboth-Bahr. The research of the group aims to enhance comprehension of the Earth system's temporal evolution, emphasizing the interplay of climate processes across various latitudes and the interconnections between marine and terrestrial climate systems. This understanding facilitates the evaluation of future scenarios in a world increasingly influenced by human activities. The successful candidate will contribute to interdisciplinary research in paleontology, paleoclimatology, paleocoelcogy and related fields, focusing on understanding past climates and ecosystems. We are seeking a highly motivated Post-Doctoral Researcher to join our team. In this role, the successful candidate will have the chance to establish their own research line within the Paleoclimate Research Group. Potential research focuses include Invertebrate Paleontology, Vertebrate Paleontology, or Paleoanthropology topics. We particularly welcome applicants with an interdisciplinary approach to paleontology research, incorporating methods from petrology, sedimentology, and geochemistry or other related fields. This position offers an exciting opportunity for interdisciplinary collaboration and career advancement in a dynamic research environment. The prospective candidate is required to teach four hours per week during the semester related to (micro)-facies analysis, paleoecology, micropaleontology and general paleontology.
