The research aims to develop a conservative and non-invasive methodological approach for the characterization of archaeological masonries, both in the underground phase and in the excavation phase, and of covering soils. The research activities will be carried out through direct laboratory tests and field application to analyse the evolutionary dynamics of the reservation conditions of the ruins within the three different interactions with the external environment, the possible preliminary actions for the mitigation of the risk factors for the physical-chemical degradation of constructive materials, and traditional and innovative solutions for their conservation. The experimental campaign on-site field will be carried out through the partnership with the Archaeological Park of Pompei.
