The ideal candidate has a strong focus on archaeological sciences, quaternary geology, experience in third-party research projects, and collaboration in international excavations. The Leibniz Centre for Archaeology (LEIZA), a member of the Leibniz Association, is a globally active archaeological research institute and museum with its headquarters in Mainz and additional sites in Neuwied, Mayen and Schleswig. Since its foundation in 1852, the museum has been dedicated to the material legacy of three million years of human history with the aim of understanding human behaviour and actions as well as the development and transformation of societies. For our Department of Pleistocene and Early Holocene Archaeology in Schleswig (Germany), we seek to immediately fill a position in Late Upper Palaeolithic, Late Palaeolithic, and Mesolithic Archaeology. To this end, the LEIZA maintains in addition to laboratories for archaeological sciences, traceology, and restoration a variety of research infrastructures, including collections, one of the largest specialist libraries for archaeology in Europe, and extensive archives. This infrastructure supports research, teaching, and knowledge transfer at national and international levels. As a Leibniz-Research Museum, knowledge transfer via publications, events, exhibitions, and educational programs forms a central part of the LEIZA working program.
