As part of the FWF project "The Town of Kom Ombo in the 3rd Millennium B.C", the position of a research assistant for the scientific investigation of the pottery of the Old Kingdom and the First Intermediate Period has been advertised. The position is to be filled at the Cairo branch, headed by Priv. Doz. Mag. Dr Irene Forstner-Müller. The position is based in Cairo. This project investigates the ancient town of Kom Ombo in the Old Kingdom and the First Intermediate Period. The aim of this position is to record and scientifically analyse the pottery from the extensive, well-preserved early settlement remains of the city of Kom Ombo. A complete recording and classification of the pottery from this site (typology and fabric categorisation) is to be carried out according to the latest scientific standards. Existing preliminary work is to be taken into account. The pottery corpus is to be analysed in its entirety and recorded in a database.
