You will initiate, coordinate and lead innovative scientific research in the field of dendrochronology. In doing so, you apply a multi- and interdisciplinary perspective at the interface of archaeology, paleogeography, landscape ecology, hydrology and climatology. You also contribute to building and art history research. You have the ability to shape a institutional and national agenda for research on subfossil wood, archaeological wood, construction wood and wood in arts and crafts, together with academic partners and parties from the archaeological and building history fields, and to translate this into an implementation agenda that is useful for the heritage field. In doing so, you will actively contribute to the RCE-wide knowledge agenda. You are responsible for the maintenance and expansion of the department's physical dendrochronological collection and for the sustainable digital storage of dendrochronological research data, the latter also in a national context (Dataverse DCCD). You are able to shape all phases of a research program or project, in close collaboration with colleagues at the RCE and with researchers at home and abroad both in the academic field and within the field of heritage care. You will identify research challenges and will formulate new research questions and problems and translate these into research using advanced new methods and techniques (e.g. stable-isotope mass spectrometry).
