You will be working in a multicultural and multi-disciplinary group, where computational scientists (Machine Learning, Computer Vision, image processing, big data and high performance computing), conservators, chemists, physicists, and heritage experts collaborate, each with their own expertise, to carry out common research. The Center for Cultural Heritage Technology (CCHT) has extensive collaborations with other Research Lines of IIT focused on AI and computer vision and has full access to the powerful IIT’s HPC infrastructure (‘Franklin’) with 256 GPU-nodes. The Center for Cultural Heritage Technology (CCHT) in Venice is coordinated by Arianna Traviglia, who has extensive experience in mediating the inclusion of technology within the analysis, protection and management of cultural heritage and in cultural landscape management. At the Centre, you will be working in the framework of the ‘Casa delle Tecnologie emergent- Opificio Digitale per la Cultura (House of Emerging Technologies - Digital Workshop for Culture)’ project (2023-2025). The project aims to develop cutting-edge technologies for museum storage facilities, particularly focusing on archaeological artifacts. It combines robotics for efficient storage arrangement and 3D digitization technologies connected to blockchain for enhanced documentation. As a team member, your role will be promoting cutting-edge technologies and approaches for digital recording of Cultural Heritage and developing automation routines for of digitization of heritage objects and image processing. Within the team, your main responsibilities will be to consolidate CCHT expertise in the development of next generation computer vision/3D digitization approaches applied to the Cultural Heritage.
