The Department of Anthropology at Northwestern University is seeking a postdoctoral fellow in archaeobotany. This position is part of a new project on “Environmental Histories of Food Security in Africa,” that focuses on building new narratives about food in the continent using archaeobotanical data. Regional expertise in Africa or tropical environments is preferred, and applicants from the African continent are strongly encouraged. Knowledge of phytolith analysis, or willingness to learn, is desirable. The fellow will be expected to contribute to the Northwestern Laboratory of Environment, Archaeobotany, and Food, focusing on the analysis of archaeobotanical samples from West Africa.
