You will be working in a multicultural and multi-disciplinary group, where computational scientists, material engineers, chemists, physicists, and archaeologists collaborate, each with their own expertise, to carry out common research. The Center for Cultural Heritage Technology (CCHT) in Venice is coordinated by Arianna Traviglia, who has extensive experience in mediating the inclusion of technology within the study and management of cultural heritage and in cultural landscape management. Research at CCHT focuses on promoting cutting-edge technologies and approaches for analysis and preservation of Cultural Heritage. Within the team, your main responsibilities will be: In situ data acquisition of hyperspectral images of frescoes at the archeological site of Pompeii; Data processing and interpretation of hyperspectral images acquired during the diagnostic campaign in Pompeii; Application of computer vision and/or machine learning methods for data processing (e.g. clustering of frescoes fragments based on acquired data) with the support of other experts. You will collaborate with CCHT researchers in the framework of the EU-funded project RePAIR developed in partnership with several international institutions, with the aim of developing robotic infrastructures for the physical reconstruction of shattered artworks (Roman frescoes).
