The University of Galway seeks a highly motivated, high-potential applicant for a position as a Research Assistant in X-Ray CT-Imaging to work within the research project: SiTrAc: Signal Tracking of Arctic Climate Change. The successful candidate will support Project SiTrAc. This project pioneers a novel cross disciplinary approach to develop and apply indirect measures of climate (i.e., proxies) to assess past Arctic climate variability, stability, and its sensitivity to climate forcing. These will provide the critical basis to resolve existing climate debates on the stability of our climate system, which crucially we do not fully understand. Specifically in this project, the research assistant will support method development in microCT scanning and image analysis of foraminifera (e.g., marine calcifying plankton). Analysis will be performed on a ZEISS Xradia VERSA 620 at the University of Galway.
