Applications are invited for a zooarchaeologist to join an international, interdisciplinary team on the ERC-funded project, Animals and Society in Bronze Age Europe. The project will explore the role of animals as active participants in Bronze Age social worlds. Focusing on the primary domesticates, the project team will bring together zooarchaeological, contextual, isotope, organic residue, iconographic and a DNA analysis to investigate herd management; patterns of human-animal interaction; animal mobility and exchange; the role of animals in feasting and ritual; and their location in cultural taxonomies. The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will collate and analyse existing zooarchaeological data and undertake primary analysis of key animal bone assemblages from the project's study areas (Britain and Ireland; southern Scandinavia and the Low Countries; and southern Poland).
