The successful candidate will investigate the co-evolutionary dynamics between subsistence practices, economic goals, social demands and trait selection with domesticates with a focus on rye agriculture in medieval to early modern time. The candidate will analyse depositions of ancient plant remains and pre-/historical samples of crops cultivated in Central Europe and by doing so support analyses on ancient DNA aiming at characterization of the distribution of genomic variation in ancient cultivars and identification of origins and diversity of crops cultivated in Europe. Finally the candidate is expected to coordinate collaborative interactions and group meetings in the sub-cluster team.
