You will investigate the mechanisms, type and extent of damage to modern and heritage plastics caused by optical analysis techniques. We encourage applicants with a wide range of backgrounds to apply for this cross-disciplinary position. Our main criterion is a keen interest in and enthusiasm for interdisciplinary research. We expect to receive applications from applicants with a variety of backgrounds which may include chemistry, physics, engineering, and/or conservation. Expertise in polymer degradation, interactions of light with materials and a basic understanding of mathematical modelling are desirable but training will be provided. Experience working within the heritage sector is desirable but not essential.
