The Department of Electronic Engineering at the University of York are seeking to appoint a post-doctoral research associate with expertise in virtual acoustics and auralisation in heritage contexts to support 'The Past Has Ears' European project - a project delivered in partnership with Sorbonne University, Paris, France, and the University of Parma, Italy, and leading heritage sites of international significance across these three partner countries. This full-time position is for a period of up to 12 months, and will build on a long track record of research in virtual acoustics, auralisation and acoustic modelling at the AudioLab. The Department of Electronic Engineering AudioLab has a long track record of research in virtual acoustics and immersive audio. Virtual acoustics as applied to historic buildings or heritage sites is one application area for this research, and much of these results have been documented and disseminated via the OpenAIR Library website, which has become a key resource in the field, and used by many commercial partners. The role of the research associate will be to build on this track record and expertise, and work with a multi-disciplinary team, including colleagues from the University of York's Department of History, to support York's role on the PHE project through a programme of acoustic modelling, calibration and testing.
