The British Museum is seeking a Research Assistant Laboratory Research to join the Scientific Research department. The main purpose of this role is to undertake laboratory research and provide scientific support to an ongoing European Research Council-funded research project (The Innovation, Dispersal and Use of Ceramics in NW Eurasia, 2016-2022). To work closely with the Principal Investigator, and with other project members at the British Museum and partner organisations nationally and internationally, to ensure that the research objectives are met. To carry out sample preparation for organic residue analysis of pottery vessels (e.g., acid/methanol extractions) and analysis of samples by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). To assist in the operation and maintenance of the GC-MS.
