Your main tasks will be to contribute to an interdisciplinary project about the population history of Eastern Central Europe, c. 400-900 CE, and collaborate with archaeologists, geneticists, anthropologists and historians. You pursue own research on the basis of written sources in the context of the project goals, in particular about migrations and identities, ethnographic and geographical perceptions of barbarians and steppe peoples, and/or the transformations of Central Europe in the period. Furthermore, you contribute to the discussions about the historical interpretation of the archaeological and genetic evidence and its methodological implications. In addition, you participate in the integrative activities of the project: meetings, workshops, joint publications, dissemination activities, website maintenance etc.
