The Deutsches Museum is one of the largest museums of science and technology worldwide. For the project below, the Conservation Science Department is currently seeking to fill a position for a Conservation Scientist / Chemist. The Deutsches Museum has more than 17.000 artefacts composed of synthetic organic polymers. The aim of the project is to develop analytical methods for the analysis of synthetic organic polymers by means of Py-GC/MS (qualitative and quantitative), of TGA-FTIR (qualitative and quantitative) and GPC (quantitative). Furthermore, strong collaborations with international leading partners should be developed for investigating complex research questions - from the field of organic chemistry - in connection with the collection, and for jointly write scientific articles and submit research project proposals.
