The University of Melbourne has been awarded ARC DP funding to develop a new generation of resins that can be tailored for conserving materials in the face of increased climate and environmental demands. The program brings together an interdisciplinary team of leading experts in cultural conservation and polymer chemistry. Our team is seeking four PhD researchers who are interested in projects on:
Project 1 Chemistry – biomass monomers – New building blocks for heritage conservation polymers
Project 2 Chemistry – novel polymers – New polymers for heritage conservation.
Project 3 Heritage conservation – polymer stability – Ageing of new resins for heritage conservation
Project 4 Heritage conservation – applied conservation testing – Varnishes for sensitive modern paintings.
