The PhD Researcher will study the production technology of archaeological glass fragments found in Portugal which are composed by several coloured glass layers. The PhD Researcher should be familiar with the following analytical techniques: UV-Vis, Particle-induced X-ray emission (μ-PIXE) and Laser Ablation Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS) to be able to interpret the data resulting from these analyses. Beyond this, he/she must be familiar with the Portuguese glass history of the Late-Medieval and Modern period (15th to 17th centuries). In addition, it is strongly recommended that he/she has already had experience in the study of the mechanisms of glass to be able to propose and adapt conservation strategies that lead to better preservation of the artifacts. Finally, the PhD Researcher will support few classes and projects of students of the Bachelor and Master in Conservation and Restoration.
