We are looking for a highly motivated candidate who holds a completed Master of Science in Earth Science or related disciplines. The selected candidate will reconstruct a high resolution paleo precipitation record of the Bolivian Amazon by analysing the hydrogen isotope composition (dD) of plant waxes extracted from archaeological sites. S/He should be self− motivated and proactively address challenges and take responsibility for the sub−project. Good verbal and written English communication skills are a pre-requisite. Knowledge of organic geochemistry and geochemical laboratory methods are an advantage. The PhD student will be required to spend between 1 and 3 months in the Bolivian Amazon (Spanish language would be required) and a similar amount of time in Germany, hosted by co−supervisor and project collaborator at MARUM (Bremen). At MARUM, s/he will have the opportunity to participate in method and soft skill courses, and networking opportunities. You will be part of a team of academic researchers working on state−of−the−art technologies in Geoarchaeology. You will spend a secondment at MARUM, where there is a dedicated laboratory equipped with several mass-spectrometers.
