This is an open PhD position within the Desert to the Sea project: Managing Rock Art, Country and Culture. Aboriginal Australians are custodians of the oldest continuous living culture in the world. The successful candidate will work with Aboriginal knowledge holders to understand the hydrology of key named waterholes, soaks and springs in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. This will be combined with satellite imagery and ground truthing (using hydrogeochemical and isotopic approaches) to better understand human occupation within desert landscapes through tens of thousands of years.
