The position is part of the DFG and AHRC funded project “Bartman goes global - the cultural impact of an iconic object in the early modern period”. The aim of the position is to gain further qualifications in the field of research and to conduct a doctorate at the interface of Historical Archaeology and Archaeometry. In the PhD project, selected find assemblages of Rhenish and English stoneware are to be examined and researched using ICP analyses. The chemical fingerprint of so-called Bartmann vessels from archaeological sites in Germany, Great Britain, the USA and beyond shall be clarified. Finally, the results will be discussed in the global context of production sites, trade networks and the use of Bartmann vessels.
