The project’s field of research is in the archaeogenomic potential of The Arctic University Museum collections. This PhD is based on exploring the ancient and historical DNA potential of artefacts and other archeological remains held in the Arctic University Museum, Tromsø. It forms part of the growing use of archaeogenomics in archaeology and in material culture studies. The project will involve assessing the potential of a wide range of organic and inorganic artefacts. Exemplar materials include tar, boat-related sediments, human and animal bones, bakestone residues, and combs.
