Based on encouraging recent progress made in multimodal imaging, we aim to develop and validate a cutting-edge X-ray and neutron computed tomography method, tailored for the in-situ study of corrosion phenomena in opaque porous media. In combination with well-proven corrosion science methods, this novel imaging technique will allow the development of a new experimental approach to study corrosion processes in opaque media, such as steel corrosion in concrete or soil. These positions are in the context of a wider project, including various students and senior scientists working in multimodal imaging (PSI), conservation and archaeology (HE-ARC CR), and corrosion science (EPFL, ETH Zurich).
