We are looking for a highly motivated PhD candidate to participate to a research project dealing with the investigation of archaeological iron artefacts. The PhD candidate will investigate the corrosion processes of iron artefacts in opaque porous media using traditional and innovative analytical techniques, in collaboration with the partner institutions of the project. Skills required: Hold a recognized university Master’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline and be acquainted with corrosion, geology/ground characterization, computer programming, archaeology/conservation, material characterization techniques; Technical analytical skills (including FTIR/Raman microscopy, XRD, SEM-EDS, XPR, AES, electrochemical techniques).
