The PhD project should address human-animal relations in the past, preferably during the Mesolithic. As an example, it could study the development of animal exploitation during the Mesolithic or focus at human influences on ecosystems and fauna. If applicable, the unique assemblage of animal remains from the site Friesack 4 (Brandenburg, Germany) will be available for analyses. However, not only Mesolithic topics, but also project proposals about systems of human-animal interaction in other periods are very welcome. The project should be geographically focused on Scandinavia, the Baltic region or northern Central Europe. We invite candidates to present a project proposal including main research questions and methods allowing answering them.
